Because jewelry oxidizes and rusts with increased exposure to water, it is advised not to take your pieces into the shower or pool unless noted otherwise (some pieces are indeed waterproof).
Take a string or thin piece of paper and wrap it around your wrist until the material is sitting comfortably. Use your finger to hold place of where the end of the string or paper touched the other end. Then, with your finger still keeping place of the material, measure the length up until your finger against a ruler. Ta-da!
